Apple Cider Chicken Wings Recipe

The apple cider sauce on these simple baked chicken wings makes them the coziest fall dinner.

INGREDIENTS

– 2 ½ lbs. chicken wings, cut into drumettes and wingettes – 1 Tbsp baking powder – ½ tsp paprika – ½ tsp garlic powder – ¾ tsp salt, divided – ¾ tsp pepper, divided – 2 cups apple cider – ¼ cup apple cider vinegar – 2 Tbsp honey – ¼ tsp cinnamon – Apple slices, for garnish – Chopped chives or scallion

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Heat the oven to 450°F. Use foil and a wire rack on a baking sheet. Apply cooking spray to the rack. Chicken wings can be dried with paper towels. Put in large bowl.

Step 2

Mix baking powder, paprika, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle baking powder on chicken wings and coat.

Step 3

Spacing the wings on the wire rack is smart. Set the oven to 300°F. After baking, toss the wings. Return the wings to the oven for 15–20 minutes to crisp and brown.

Step 4

Heat honey, apple cider vinegar, and cider in a medium saucepan on medium-high. Bake the wings while you do this. Add cinnamon, remaining ¼ tsp salt, and remaining ¼ tsp pepper. 

Step 5

Bring to boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 25 minutes to thin and thicken the sauce.

Step 6

━━━━━━━━━━━

Place baked chicken wings in a large bowl. Combine apple cider sauce. Serve wings on a platter with any remaining bowl sauce. Add apple slices and chives/scallions.
