Melt butter in a skillet on medium. Add garlic and onion; heat and stir for 5–7 minutes until soft.

Preheat a waffle iron in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

In a sizable basin, thoroughly mix the onion combination, mashed potatoes, eggs, flour, salt, and black pepper.

Put 1/4 to 1/2 cup batter (depending on waffle iron size) in the center and close cover. 3–5 minutes till golden brown.
