Batman Gets a Militaristic Twist as Bruce Wayne Joins the Real-World Vietnam War

The origin of Batman has been used by many creators. If Batman is dropped during the Vietnam War, his origin will change. Everyone knows Batman's fight against crime, but few have seen him fight.

DC's recent Superman: Space Age reboot was a hit. The same creative team will reimagine Batman's origin in Batman: Dark Age. The April 2 issue will follow a young, aimless Bruce Wayne in prison.

Bruce enters the army during Vietnam to serve less. Per the solicitation, pampered rich boy Bruce Wayne must fight in a real war under Ra's al Ghul. Bruce Wayne studied crime fighting from the most brutal fighters and masters worldwide.

Batman was one of the world's best fighters, and everyone he trained is close. Batman: Dark Age puts Bruce Wayne in a brutal war with huge historical stakes. The new origin will change Batman.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Batman faces his cruelest foe, Ra's al Ghul. Ra's doesn't want wealth like Penguin or Two-Face. Ra has everything he wants. Instead, he's always wanted to kill most people to save the planet.

War is ideal for this. Often overlooked, Ra's al Ghul helped start World War II and the Holocaust, so his role in the Vietnam War may have been similarly ominous.

Batman's origin story is famous, but there's room for creativity. Some creators discussed his parents' death night, while others described his world journey training.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Batman has never fought a war despite his many battles. How a gun-free man manages in Vietnam will be intriguing. This may be Batman's hardest origin.
