INGREDIENTS

– 2 cups all-purpose flour – ¾ cup granulated sugar – 1 tsp baking powder – ½ tsp baking soda – 1 tsp salt – 2 large egg – ¾ cup + 2 Tbsp buttermilk – 2 Tbsp melted butter (slightly cooled) – 2 Tbsp vanilla extract – 1 batch vanilla icing (recipe below) – Sprinkles, if desired Vanilla Icing – 1 ½ cups confectioners' sugar – 2 Tbsp buttermilk – 1 ½ Tbsp vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and lightly oil a doughnut pan.Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt in a large bowl.

Whisk eggs lightly in a smaller bowl. Mix buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir the wet and dry ingredients until just combined to avoid tough donuts.

Step 3

Pour batter into doughnut pans to ¾ full. Squeezing batter into a doughnut pan requires cutting the corner of a plastic bag.

Step 4

Bake 10–13-minute donuts until light and springy. Finish cooling donuts on wire rack after a few minutes in pan. Repeat with remaining batter in 6-cavity donut pan.

Step 5

Icing doughnuts upside-down after they cool. Sprinkle sprinkles on waxed or parchment-lined wire rack.
