10 Movies That Were Inspired By Real Crime

The 1959 Clutter family murder was cold-blooded, as the film title implies. Perry Smith and Richard Hickock broke into the Kansas Clutter family home and killed four members before stealing their valuables.


1. In Cold Blood (1967) 

All The President's Men is based on Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward's Washington Post book that broke the Nixon second inauguration scandal. The film won 4 Oscars and was well-received.

Based on Jordan Belfort's 2007 memoir, Wolf of Wall Street Belfort founded Stratton Oakmont, a 7-year fraud, from his New York stockbroker position. Belfort was imprisoned for 22 months for fraud after Stratton Oakmont closed in 1996.
